28 Nov '08 - + 0 - 7 And we have a tree!

It's the day after Thanksgiving, and that means that it's go-get-a-Christmas-tree day! Woohoo!
I grew up in Chicago, where if you wanted a real tree, you would drive down to the corner where a guy was selling them out of his truck for $50. So we had an artificial tree my whole life. It was great for what it was, but as soon as we moved to Michigan and could go cut down our own tree for a reasonable price, we hopped on that bandwagon and never looked back.
The first several years we searched out the most perfect trees we could find. And then, three years ago, Juanito fell in love with a thoroughly
ridiculous tree, which we ended up getting. And even i kind of fell in love with it eventually. For the next two years, we searched and searched for another wonky tree, but to no avail. So this year Juanito called around until he found a place (the same place we got the one three years ago, actually...except we couldn't remember where we'd gotten it) that had some less-than-perfect trees we could get.
We looked through all the crazy trees, hemming and hawing. Even my mom and dad totally got into searching out the cutest crazy tree for us. But the one we got? I spotted it from quite a distance and said, "Dude! THAT is the one!" And it's . Completely lopsided and kind of flat and entirely lovable.
So then we came home and got Chinese food and watched "The Christmas Toy" and decorated the tree. All of the kids loved the decorating (although Katrina hated the pokey needles and tried to just hand all the ornaments off to us to hang), but i think that was the most enthralled. As soon as we plugged in the lights, he started the little light bulbs, and when he realized we could hang , he started removing the ones we all put on so that he could hang them again. (Except not as well.)
And here is the .
Speaking of finished products, apparently i am supposed to show the projects from yesterday. So here's what they . Of course, everyone's is different, because we all used different cards.
four comments, already:
HOW on EARTH did you get that thing in the tree stand without it falling over?!? It’s like, a miracle of physics or something. So, did anyone at the tree farm give you a big hug when you took that one home? I’m so glad someone has a heart for the poor, lonely, forgotten trees of the world. I mean, if God took the time to make that tree, shouldn’t someone appreciate it? :)
